Abstract

954,967. Fire-extinguishing; sprinkler heads. H. M. WITTENBURG, and F. SCHIELE, [trading as SELBSTTATIGE FEUERLOSCHAMLAGEN GES. RUD. OTTO MEYER]. July 16, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 27189/62. Heading A5A. In a sprinkler head for an automatic fireextinguisher the liquid outlet of a nozzle body 1 is closed by a valve body 10 of frusto-conical form bearing, via a packing ring 14, against an annular upper projection 7 of the nozzle body. The valve body is held in position by a fusible solder or by an ampule 11 filled with a liquid which is adapted to burst at a predetermined temperature. The ampule is held in position by the head 5 of a two-armed yoke 4 on the sprinkler head, which head 5 also carries spray vanes 6. The projection 7 consists of a ring machined out of the nozzle body 1 and is of such width and thickness that it is resilient to the pressure p exerted by the extinguisher fluid.
