Abstract
954,602. Coated fabrics. J. FRIEDMAN. Feb. 21, 1962 [Feb. 23, 1961], No. 6785/62. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions B8 and D1] A coated film, suitable for packaging purposes, comprises an outer film 3 which may comprise polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, or polyethylene glycol, and a coating 2 which preferably has a major ingredient consisting of a wax or oleaginous substance, such as a hydrocarbon microcrystalline wax, animal wax, vegetable wax, saponified fatty acid, or a condensation product of ethylene oxide, which is non-watersoluble and has a melting point between 68 and 212 ‹F. Further, the coating 2 may include an emulsifier, such as glycerol monostearate or salts of fatty acids, to disperse the coating in a colloidal suspension when exposed to water, and a film forming material, e.g. glycerol monostearate, and a softener, e.g. lanolin. Specification 606,431 and Canadian Specification 510,555 are referred to.
