Abstract
953,265. Door latches. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. May 9, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 17811/62. Addition to 878,246. Heading E2A. A door latch mechanism as in the parent Specification has a modified locking system to which a link means is movable between a position wherein it transmits motion from the actuating member to the detent means and a position wherein such motion is not transmitted. The detent arm 34 extends through a slot 33 in the plate flange 12 to abut the end 65 of a link 59 which bears a rivet head 62 extending through slots 72 of the locking lever 66, and slot 48 of an actuating lever 44. Link 46 of the lever 44 is connected to the extend operator e.g. pushbutton, a link 55 of lever 52 is connected to the internal operator e.g. sill button, and one end of the locking lever 66 is actuable by a pushpull locking button on the inside of a door. In Fig. 2 the two slots 72 and 48 are coupled together so that on actuation of either the link 55 or 46 the link 59 is moved to operate the detent lever and release the latch. On rotation of locking lever 66 to the locking position the slot 72 is aligned with the vertical part of the slot 48 so that both the inside and outside operators are ineffective to release the detent.
