Abstract

951,837. Rotary compressors. P. AUGUST. Jan. 10, 1962, No. 908/62. Heading F1F. A rotary compressor has a blade 8 attached at one end to a gyratory piston 7 by an elastic shoe 12 of rubber or of synthetic material, and mounted between rollers 14, 141 in a recess 9 in the casing. The blade, acting as a reciprocating piston, is stated to pump air through a removable Venturi 23 and conduit 22 connected to a duct 21 passing through the base of the compressor. Here the air picks up oil through a wick 19, or a nozzle, and carries it from the duct 21, through another conduit (not shown) and passages 24 to nozzles 25 to lubricate the blade. Some of this oil then leaks into the working chamber. The area of the Venturi 23 is greater than the total area of the nozzles 25. The casing has diametrical arms with flanges 16, within which end cover plates are centred.
