Abstract
951,692. Transformers. WILLEM SMIT & CO.'S TRANSFORMATORENFABRIEK N.V. Feb. 23, 1961 [March 16, 1960], No. 6755/61. Heading H1T. To improve the distribution of surge voltages a transformer disc coil winding consists of two or more branches a, b (Fig. 2) connected in parallel, the disc coils each having conductors of all branches interwound over its whole radial dimension, current flow being inwards and outwards in alternate coils and the conductors of each branch being connected to form a loop, or a number of series-connected loops, between the two coils of one or more pairs of coils as for example is formed by turns a6-a9 and a10-a14 in the first and second coils shown in Fig. 2. The doop or loops are connected between a further condoctor (e g a15-a18) of one coil of the pair and a further conductor (a1-a5) of the other coil of the pair and the pairs of adjacent coils (I and II for branch a)in which loops of each branch are formed, are different from the pairs of adjacent coils in which loops of every other branch are formed (III and IV branch b) so that there are connections on the inside and outside of the winding between every pair of adjacent coils. A three-branch arrangement is described (Fig. 3, not shown).
