Abstract
908,450. Transformers. FERRANTI Ltd. March 29, 1961 [April 7, 1960], No. 13309/60. Class 38 (2). In order to give an even surge voltage distribution over an inductive winding the coils are interleaved as shown on the Figure, wherein the winding comprises a group of pairs of disc coils spaced along a common axis (not shown) to the left of the Figure. The group includes initial pairs A, B, intermediate pairs C, D, E, and final pair F. Each disc is wound from three adjacent insulated conductors and the turns are connected in numerical sequence 1-120 as shown. The inner ends of one coil of each pair are connected to the inner ends of the other coil of the pair by cross-connections GHJKLM. The outer ends are connected so that the current path after passing through any intermediate coil pair passes once through each of the two preceding pairs such as B, C (by turns 49 to 54 and 55 to 61), once through the next succeeding pair such as E (by way of turns 62 to 68) once again through the immediately preceding pair such as C (by turns 69 to 74) and then a second time through pair D (by way of turns 75 to 81).
