Abstract
950,967. Centrifugal separators. REACTOR CENTRUM NEDERLAND. March 13, 1961 [March 23, 1960], No. 9130/61. Heading B2P. [Also in Division F2] In a pivot bearing, for the rotor of an ultracentrifuge for example, a vertical shaft 7 has a globe-shaped end 7a received in a part-spherical shaped recess 8a of a socket 8 which has a passage 17 leading from the recess 8a. The socket also contains a lubricant reservoir 16 which extends to the recess 8a and is fed by lubricant from a conduit. 18. The socket 8 may have grooves 23 formed therein which lead to the reservoir 16 and serve to circulate the lubricant. The shape of the grooves 23, Figs. 4 and 5, determines the flow of the lubricant, the circulation of which may be supplemented by a pump, the conduits 17, 18 being interconnected.
