Abstract
950,092. Press-button retractive switches. MAXSON ELECTRONICS CORPORATION. Oct. 21, 1960 [May 23, 1960], No. 36153/60. Heading H2B. A snap-action switch comprises moving contacts 26, each co-operable with upper and lower fixed contacts 12, 14 and carried by a spring 24 secured by a rivet 18, spring legs 28 increasing its torsional flexibility. Spring 24 is formed with fingers 30, 32 engageable with a snap spring 22 having a portion 23 abutting a bracket 20 and a portion 25 engageable with a plunger 34, the switch mechanism being normally positioned as shown in Fig. 1. Depression of the plunger 34 causes the spring 22 to snap over and engage finger 32 to separate contacts 12, 26 and close contacts 14, 26, separation and closure being substantially simultaneous and the pressure between the engaged contacts being maintained by the finger 30 up to the instant of separation. Release of the plunger 34 allows the spring 22 to restore the mechanism, the finger 32 maintaining the contact pressure in a similar manner. The terminals 16 may be replaced by spring members and the switch may have only one stationary and one movable contact, or one pair or more than two pairs of opposed stationary contacts.
