Abstract
949,115. Aprons. A. JOHNSON. Oct. 8, 1962 [Nov. 7, 1961], No 39742/61. Heading A3V. An apron has a central panel 1 (Fig. 1) cut to a rectangular shape (Fig. 3 not shown) with curved lower corners 1a. The top of the panel is gathered or shirred with a number of parallel elasticated threads 2 sewn in the inner side of the apron. The panel has a border strip 4 puckered at intervals whilst being stitched on the panel 1 especially at the rounded corners 1a to give a flounce or frill effect. The border has extended top ends which are folded over to form hem 7 (Fig. 2) into which are inserted the folded tapered ties 8, the interfitting parts being stitched together by stitching 9. All the free edges of the frill 4 and waistband members 8 are ornamented with a whipping or over-edge stitch. A pocket 11 may be provided on the central panel.
