Abstract
948,934. Covers for screw-heads. ARNOLD KNIPPING G.m.b.H. Feb. 17, 1960 [Feb. 17, 1959], No. 5644/60. Heading F2H. A screw-head protector comprises a cap 2, Fig. 2, removably mounted on a head 5 and formed of resilient plastic resistant to attack by corrosive substances, the cap covering the whole of the end-face of the head and being biased by its own resilience into a gas-tight seal against the head. The cap has a protrusion 4 to engage in the screw-head driving slot, and may seat and seal against a washer under the screw-head. The cap and washer may be moulded in one and the washer may have an internal projector to grip a screw-shank when assembled therewith before the screw is used. In a modification, the screw-head is undercut at 12, Fig. 5, to receive an inturned rim 15 on the cap. The cap and washer may be secured together by an adhesive.
