Abstract

948,293. Steam turbine blades. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 1, 1962 [Dec. 16, 1961], No. 45167/61. Heading FIT. A stator blade for a steam turbine includes one or more grooves formed in at least the high pressure surface of the blade, and one or more holes extending from the root of the or each groove through to the low pressure surface of the blade. A steam turbine stator blade 1 has a groove 2 formed in the high pressure surface extending parallel to the outlet edge 3 and holes 4 extending from the root of the groove 2 through to the low pressure surface of the blade 1. A groove corresponding to the groove 2 may be provided on the low pressure surface of the blade 1. The construction reduces erosion of the rotor blades by reducing the formation of water droplets.
