Abstract
1,074,762. Steam turbines. BROWN BOVERI & CO. Ltd. July 16, 1965 [July 18, 1964], No. 30279/65. Heading F1T. Auxiliary superheated steam is introduced into an intermediate stage of a steam turbine through circular apertures 5 in the pressure surfaces of the stator blades 1 to mix with the main steam flow and thus reduce condensation. Auxiliary steam is also introduced through a conduit 10 in the housing 11. The steam is supplied to the interior (3), Figs. 1 to 4 (not shown), of each blade from a separate boiler or from a higher pressure stage of the turbine, throttling or reheating of the tapped steam being effected in the latter case. In a modification, Figs. 2, 4 (not shown), the circular apertures 5 in the blades are replaced by elongated slits (6). Steam can also be introduced through apertures in the rotor blades.
