A perforator comprises a plurality of punch head assemblies mounted in substantially a straight line, a pivotally-mounted handle having surfaces in different planes and arranged along substantially straight lines above and parallel with the line of said assemblies, whereby when the handle is depressed, certain of said surfaces are capable of engaging the punches in said assemblies and certain other of said surfaces are incapable of engaging said punches, and means for shifting selected of said assemblies alternatively into and out of registry with selected of said surfaces. As shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 5, a pivotally-mounted handle 7 is provided with depressed or equivalent portions 40, 44 and 45 and with a raised or equivalent portion 47 for cooperation with the punches 27 of selected punch head assemblies 25 which are respectively adjustable along slots 51, 52 and 53 in an adjuster bracket 50, the punch assemblies being releasably locked in position by means of set screws 54, 55 and 56. Each assembly has an index line 38 co-operating with a graduated scale 24. Punchings are discharged into a detachable receptacle 14. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the set screws 54 &c. are replaced by spring-influenced detent means engaging indentations in the adjuster bracket. In another modification, Fig. 8, the portion 45 is omitted and the handle, 7a has secured thereto a rotatable baffle 76 for selectively engaging the punch 27a of a central punch head assembly 25a fixed to adjuster bracket 50a. Alternatively, the baffle may be slidably mounted in the handle. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the handle 143 has secured thereto a bracket 1104 provided with a lateral flange 1107 which is engageable with a shoulder 1108 on each punch 127 so as to lift any punches which may stick in their lower positions. In still further modifications, Figs. 18 to 21 (not shown), the lateral flange on a bracket secured to the handle serves also to depress the punches, the portions 40, 44 and 45 being omitted.
