In a vehicle seat assembly mounted for longitudinal displacement, a guide plate 5 is secured to the frame of the seat and is adapted for adjustment and location on a base plate 1 which is mounted on the bottom of the vehicle, the base plate having two supporting rails 2 which are in the form of an inverted U, guide members 10 secured to the guide plate 5 being guided in slots 9 in the webs of the rails 2 and the web 3 connecting the two rails having recesses 4 in which engages an adjusting lever 6 which is secured to the guide plate 5. The lever 6 is constructed in the form of a leaf spring and has a handle to facilitate operation. The base plate 1 may be provided with a wear resistant layer of synthetic resin.
