Heading F2B In a Hooke's type universal joint comprising a journal 11, Fig. 1, supported on needle rollers 12 in a bearing cup 13, a ring 20 of deformable and resilient material, e g Neoprene, is compressed between the journal and the rim 14 of the cup, the journal and the rim being formed with inclined surfaces by means of which an inwardly directed force is applied to the ring 20 to assist sealing between the ring and the journal. The ring has a parallelogram crosssection, Fig. 3, in the uncompressed state. A metal guard ring 17 may be interposed between the ring and the shoulder.
