An electric hand torch is provided with a multicolour filter comprising a carrier 4 rotatable on an axis 6 parallel with the longitudinal axis of the torch and carrying a number of filter elements 5 disposed on a pitch circle about the axis of rotation, the edge of the carrier being accessible through an opening 7 in the casing for rotating the carrier. The edge of the carrier may be knurled and provided with locating notches 9 co-operating with a spring 12, the notches being coloured to correspond with the colour of the filter in operative position. The upper part of the casing may also be provided with a slot for the passage of a focusing lever, the lower part housing the battery and supporting a sliding switch.
