Abstract
944,743. Rollerway conveyers. GEMAG GERATE-UND MASCHINENBAU A.G. & CO. April 30, 1962 [April 28, 1961], No. 16327/62. Heading B8A. Pallets 1 and 2, Fig. 1, are conveyed along rollerway 50 upon rollers 1. Each roller, Fig. 3, is provided with a collar 1a which carries pawl 7 engaging the inside ratchet of sprocket 6. The sprockets 6 are driven by chain 3 driven by a motor 4 or alternatively are braked. The effect of the ratchet wheels is to limit the velocity of a roller and therefore of a pallet to that of the chain, whilst permitting a pallet to remain stationary despite the continuous movement of the chain. Second embodiment, Fig. 4. Additional rollers 1 are provided, which are without ratchet wheels but are connected together by a belt 9 so as to move in unison. A brake 13 is provided having end 12a engageable by the end pallet. In operation, the pallet 10 is stopped by the fixed projection shown, whilst the brake 13 is operated by the weight of pallet 10 to cause all three rollers 1 to be braked and thus to hold up the pallet 11. when pallet 10 is discharged by means of a fork truck the pallet is still in engagement with brake end 12a for a slight period after the pallet has left the rollers 1. The effect of this is to hold up pallet 11 till pallet 10 is well clear of the rollerway.
