Abstract
944,549. Abrasive tools. DISKUS WERKE FRANKFURT AM MAIN A.G. March 22, 1962 [March 23, 1961], No. 10950/62. Heading B3D. A device for holding grinding wheel units or segments 5 on a carrier plate 1 comprises not less than three clamping units 2, 3, two of which extend inwardly from the periphery of the carrier plate with clamping faces 6 facing adjacent grinding wheel units or segments, and a third of which acts radially in opposition to the peripherally-arranged clamping units, the latter being fixed to the carrier plate whereas the outwardly-acting clamping unit can be locked or released so that a grinding unit or segment with a suitably-flared base can be inserted between the clamping units and held firmly or released. The grinding-wheel units may be cup-shaped with flared bases having conical surfaces 7. The surface 7 of each unit is engaged by stepped and tapered pressure pads 6 on two adjacent outer clamping units 2 and a pressure pad 12 on an inner clamping unit 3; each outer unit has two pressure pads engaging adjacent grinding units. The inner clamping units are releasably secured to the carrier plate by screws 4 in key-hole slots 8, 9 and have tapered surfaces 10 engaging a tapered surface 11 to provide a wedging action on the grinding units. The pressure pads may be of hard-wearing plastic material.
