Abstract

943,486. Sealing metal ties. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. April 28, 1961 [April 29, 1960; June 22, 1960], Nos. 15159/60 and 21872/60. Heading B6P. [Also in Division E2] A band clamp comprises a metal strip, the ends of which are adapted to be fastened together, said metal strip being formed with an arched portion for compressing, with pliers for example, in order to tension the band about the articles encircled. As shown in Fig. 2, the means of securing the ends of the band together may comprise a claw 3 formed at one end of the band, and adapted to engage in one of a plurality of apertures formed at the other end of the band. Alternatively, as in Fig. 4, a metal link may be permanently secured to one end of the band for engagement by the other end 12, or a modified form of link may be used, as shown in Fig. 6, lugs 28 being provided in this case to hold the end 22 of the strap securely.
