[Also in Division F1] A spring-loaded valve 5 arranged to cut off the flow of engine fuel from an inlet 3 to an outlet 4 in response to a reduction of force exerted by a member, such as a spring-loaded diaphragm 10, operates as an overspeed governor, the force exerted by the diaphragm being determined by a speed-responsive valve which controls escape of gas under pressure, e.g. air from a gas turbine compressor, from a conduit 20. In the event of overspeeding the speed-responsive valve, between which and the gas pressure source is a restriction 16, opens to cause reduction of pressure below the diaphragm and consequent closure of the valve 5 which then remains closed due to the pressure of fuel in the inlet 3 despite re-establishment of pressure below the diaphragm as the engine slows down. To prevent the engine from stopping completely the valve 5 when closed may permit a small flow, or it may have a by-pass. In a modification the valve 5 and diaphragm are interconnected by a lever.
