942,266. Fuel injection internal combustion engines. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURGNURNBERG A.G. May 27, 1960 [May 29, 1959], No. 18763/60. Heading F1B. Fuel is injected in two jets of which the first one is applied directly to the combustion chamber wall to form a thin film 3 while the second is guided as a compact stream by a groove 5 in the chamber wall to a portion of the wall clear of the film 3 and there forms a second film 8. The films are vaporized by a rotary air flow in the chamber. The groove 5 decreases in depth towards its end to permit the fuel therein to be spread out by the air flow. In a modification, Fig. 3, the groove 5 is continued as a channel 5a through the piston head to permit a portion of the compact jet to flow towards a heater 12 to facilitate starting.
