Abstract
942,173. Boring bars. MADISON INDUSTRIES Inc. Nov. 13, 1961, No. 40599/61. Heading B3C. A boring or reaming cutter comprises a pair of blades 16, 17, Figs. 1, 2, having cutting edges 18, 19, which are maintained in alignment by a Vee-shaped recess and tongue 20, 21, and faces 24, 25. The cutting diameter is adjusted by a screw 33 which engages a screwed insert 31, and the blades are secured in their adjusted position by a screw 44. The cutter may be held in a bar 10 by a rod 13. In a modification, Fig. 8, a reamer comprising blades 60, 61, has cutting tips 62, and the blades are aligned by a Veeshaped tongue 64, a recess 63, and faces 67, 69. In a further modification a boring cutter, Fig. 10, comprises blades 80, 81, aligned by tongues 87, and recesses 86, and surfaces 91, 89, and 90 and the removable tips 82 are clamped by clamps 83, and chip breakers 84.
