Abstract
939,663. Cockspur fastenings. T. L. GILSON. Dec. 14, 1960 [Dec. 16, 1959], No. 42748/59. Class 44. A window fastener of the cockspur type is provided with means for reversing the fastener relative to its support, and for locking the fastener in its closed position in both its normal and reversed conditions. The fastener comprises a base 11 for fixing to the moving part of the window, pivotally supporting at 24 a tongue 22 comprising a pillar 23 to which a handle 25 is pivoted, so that by means of the handle the tongue may be brought into and out of engagement with a holding member secured to a fixed part of the window. Furthermore, the handle is pivotable about an axis parallel to the tongue so that by pivoting the handle through 180 degrees relative to the tongue, and then pivoting the tongue through 180 degrees about the pivot 24, the fastener may. be adjusted to cause the tongue to project from either side of the handle. In order to lock the fastener in either of its engaged conditions, a threaded pin 28 is provided, reversible on the handle 25 and passing through a hole therein to engage a screw-threaded socket 18 mounted on an insert 15 which is slidable in a slot 16 in the base 11. The pin 28 may be constructed so as to be operable by means of an allen key.
