Abstract

939,554. Stud and socket fastenings. H. W. WILLIAMSON, and P. B. ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 28, 1962 [April 26, 1961], No. 15081/61. Class 44. [Also in Group XXVIII] A releasable fastening comprises a pipe 12 and a pipe or rod 10, the latter having at its end a bore 14 in which two plungers 15, 16 are housed, the latter being mounted on a threaded shank 17 of the former for movement toward and away from each other. In the case of a pipe 10 the bore is formed in a block 13. The bore may be of square cross-section to prevent rotation of square section plunger 16. When block 13 has been introduced into pipe 10, a screw 24 is is inserted in the block to limit inward movement of the plungers. Pipes 10, 12 are joined by unscrewing plunger 15, the plungers moving outwardly into engagement with diametrically opposed holes 27 in pipe 12.
