Abstract

939,404. Windscreen wipers. ANDERSON CO. July 5, 1961 [Aug. 11, 1960], No. 24254/61. Class 138 (1). A windscreen wiper 10 includes pressure-distributing means having a continuously curved, concave, airfoil surface. Pivotally connected, spring urged yokes 14, 15 having inward facing, concave surfaces carry U-shaped members 26 riveted thereto with claw-like ends 27 slidably engaging a flexible backing strip 27 for a wiping element 16. Co-operating tabs 22, 24 on the yoke 14 and slots 30, 31 in the yokes 15 are provided. In operation, the reaction force " Y " to an outflowing wind vector "X," assists spring means in a wiper arm in urging the wiper element 16 towards the windscreen.
