Abstract
939,171. Knitting-machines. WILLIAM COTTON Ltd. March 13, 1962 [March 24, 1961], No. 10797/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 74 (2). Half points are associated with the transfer points for co-operating with the needles of a straight-bar rib machine and are positioned at the innermost edge of a group to effect loop spreading during widening so as to avoid the formation of eyelets. A single half-point is associated with the transfer points for the frame or machine needles or may be associated with the points for both sets of needles. The points are operated as described in Specification 933,593 and the half point for each group is adapted to be controlled by a cam disc to enable it to operate with the points of the group during widening when it engages the loop of the corresponding needle and spreads it outwardly over the adjacent needle of the same bed. In view of the intervening needle of the other bed, after the widening cycle the two needles containing the spread loop are able to knit individual loops.
