Abstract

934,369. Subaqueous structures. GEORGE WIMPEY & CO. Ltd. June 30, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22497/59. Class 68 (2). A floatable structure includes a buoyant platform 1 having a number of speeds or legs 2, with movable flanges 6 attached to their lower ends, which speeds are slidable vertically with respect to said platform. Cogged rails 11a, 11b secured to each leg 2, slide in recesses 10a, 10b in the flange and engage with cogged bars 13a, 13b slidably mounted in housings 12a, 12b and actuated by means of motor driven internally-splined sleeves 23a, 23b mounted in the platform which drive bolts 17a, 17b mounted in sleeves 15a, 15b secured to the bolts. The jacking systems are only operable when the flanges are in their fully retracted positions in recesses 7 in the platform and the flanges 6 are supported by the platform by means of lugs 24a, 24b when disengaged from their legs. Lost-motion between the sleeves and legs is provided for by vertical sliding movement of sleeves 16a, 16b in guides 26a, 26b. Specifications 884,255 and 934,370 are referred to.
