Abstract
933,977. Cartons. UNIPAK CARTONS Ltd. Feb. 28, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 7216/61. Class 18. A carton of tubular form with end closure flaps 26, 27, 28, 29 has a load bearing member in the form of a double-walled longitudinal internal partition in which is enclosed a handle slidable from a fully retracted position within the carton to a second position in which the handhold portion projects through a slot 4 in the partition. The blanks for the carton and partition may be formed in one-piece as in Fig. 6, or separately, while the blank for the handle member is shown in Fig. 2. The shaded areas on all blanks are coated with pressure sensitive adhesive. The part 15 of the handle member is enclosed within the partition walls 1 and 2 which are folded together about the line 3. Both sides of tabs 5, 6 and 9 are coated with adhesive, and the doubled partition is folded about line 13 while the carton blank is folded about line A. The obverse side of tab 5 then registers with area 34<SP>1</SP>, the obverse side of tab 6 registers with area 33, and the obverse coated side of end tab 32 registers with the parts 9 and 34<SP>1</SP> to form the knock-down carton which can then be erected as in Fig. 5. Various forms of the one-piece blank are disclosed and the top closures may be omitted. Specifications 871,135, 896,091, 896,479 and 896,957 are referred to.
