Abstract
933,614. Slip couplings. J. WALTERSCHEID, and B. WALTERSCHEID-MULLER. Feb. 17, 1961 [Feb. 17, 1960], No. 6019/61. Class 80 (2). In an overload slip coupling for agricultural or building machinery of the kind wherein sets of four cam-faced plungers 7 carried by a driven shaft 2 are pressed by springs 9 into recesses 6 in a driving drum 1, the plungers 7 and recesses 6 are arranged so that for any relative angular position of the two clutch members 1, 2 relative motion therebetween is opposed by at least one plunger 7 from each set engaging a recess 6. The plungers 7 may, as shown, act radially or axially. The number of plungers 7 and recesses 6 and their relative positions are so selected that the coupling transmits torque up to a predetermined limit without slip and transmits torque at said limit during slip. The predetermined limit may be adjusted by changing the number of plungers or the strength of the springs.
