Abstract
932,477. Boxes. ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd. March 15, 1961 [March 29, 1960], No. 11012/60. Class 18. A box has a handle 12 formed from a panel 8 which is itself an extension of a top panel 1. The handle, movable vertically within a slot 25 in the top 1, is adapted to engage a tongue 21 on lid 4. On closing the lid, with the handle in a depressed position, the tongue passes through a slot 26 and thence through the handhole in the handle. On raising the handle to the carrying position, shoulders 16 (not shown) and 17 engage notches 22, 23 respectively thereby locking the tongue 21 and thence lid 4 in the closed position. Alternatively shoulders 16, 17 and notches 22, 23 may be respectively replaced by upwardly projecting lugs at edge 29 and apertures in the tongue 21, and a separate slot in the handle may be used in place of the hand-hole. End walls (not shown) are provided and these may hinge at 30 and have return V-flanges at their side edges to engage flaps 19.
