Abstract

932,330. Granulating pulverulent material. RICHTER GEDEON VEGYESZETI GYAR R. T. Oct. 11, 1961 [Oct. 13, 1960], No. 36542/61. Class 87(2). Pulverulent material is granulated by passing it between one pair of compacting rollers 7, 8 which have longitudinal grooves on their surfaces, a second pair of compacting rollers 11, 12 having peripheral grooves on their surfaces, and of smaller diameter and rotating at a slower speed than the first pair of rollers, then a pair of comminuting rollers 14, 15 having narrower peripheral grooves on their surfaces which are rotated at different speeds to break up the compacted material. The granulated material then passes through a vibratory screen 17 to be sorted into different sizes, the unwanted material being regranulated. The compacting rollers are water cooled and each pair of rollers has scrapers 9, 13, 16 to clean them, and screws 10 to adjust the pass between the rollers. The material is fed to the rollers 7, 8 from a hopper 3 containing a slowly rotating stirrer 4, rotatable feed roller 5 and closure plate 6.
