931,656. Preheating and charging cement raw materials. PREROVSKE STROJIRNY, NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 29, 1960 [Sept. 3, 1959], No. 29660/60. Class 51 (2). Apparatus for preheating cement raw materials being fed into a rotary furnace 1 comprises a shaft 4 with a tangential lower hot gas supply duct 2 and an upper exhaust duct 3, a feed hopper 19 with delivery pipe 25, annular baffles 26 arranged immediately above the entrances 20 to separating bins 15-18, and control ovoid-shaped baffles 5-7. Charge material entering through pipe 25 divides into large grains which fall through the ascending, whirling hot gas into the hopper base 27 and into small grains entrained by said gases and whirled into a separating bin 18. Fine material passes from the bin 18 through pipe 24 back into the shaft to enter bin 17, passing then successively through pipe 23, bin 16, pipe 22, bin 15 and pipe 21 which delivers it into the furnace along with the large material leaving the hopper base 27 through pipe 28. Feed pipes 25, 24, 22, 21 and 28 all have rotary control valves 29.
