Abstract

1394654 Preheating granular materials M F PARSONS 31 Jan 1973 [7 March 1972] 4899/73 Heading F4B A preheater for limestone being fed to a rotary kiln comprises a refractory lined shaft 11 with an upper material inlet section 15 housing a concentric flared exhaust offtake 16 and having an air lock feed device 18, a central section 20 formed with hot gases inlets 28 round its periphery and a lower material holding section 30 formed with a discharge port 31. Hot gases pass from the kiln through a duct 25 to an annular header 23 formed with the inlets 28 and with outlets 29 for dust deposited in said feeder. The flared gas offtake 16 is connected to a horizontal duct 17. The frustoconical lower section 30 narrows to a discharge port 31 with a discharge device 32 and incorporates a frustoconical baffle 34 supported by beams 36.
