930,478. Mechanical couplings for wire armouring. J. A. KEMP. June 13, 1961, No. 21375/61. Class 38 (1). A gland for attachment of an electric cable to a metal junction-box or the like comprises a hollow boss 2 the base of which is bored to receive part of an insulated cable 4 below its armouring 6 which is slidably fitted in an externally tapered bush 11 extending under the armouring, said boss being internally screwthreaded at 9 to take an externally threaded nut 7 internally bored with a taper which clamps the armouring on to the bush which contacts the base of the boss. A grease nipple 17 opens into said boss and a resilient shroud 15 grips the end of the boss in a groove 13 thereon, the other end 16 of the shroud embracing the cable 5.
