Abstract
928,937. Sliding jaw clamps. MACDONALD & CO. (HAYDOCK) Ltd. April 10, 1962 [June 7, 1961], No. 20491/61. Class 44. A clamp for the flanges of a steel girder 14 comprises a hooked body 15 having a lower part 16 and an upper part 17, a slide 20 thereon with a hook part 21 in opposite relation to said first hook part, and a wedge 30 to clamp said slide to the girder. Various sizes of girder are accommodated by means of an anvil 25 movable to one of three positions in the body 15 by means of a spigot 24. Finer adjustment of clamping size may be effected by making the hole in the anvil 25 nearer one end so that it may be turned through 180 degrees thereby to take up a different operative position. Fine adjustment may also be effected by supplying a groove of different depth in the opposite face of the slide 20.
