Abstract

1,181,398. Vices. K. R. BEETLESTONE. 30 Oct., 1968 [1 Nov., 1967], No. 49731/67. Heading B3B. A vice comprises a base 10 on which a stationary jaw 1 is formed and a U-shaped member 3 floatingly engaged in the base 10 by a pin 14 and slot 13 and through one limb of which passes a lead-screw 15 to move a movable jaw 18. The other limb of the member 3 engages the rear face of the fixed jaw 1. The arrangement ensures no distortion in the base 10 when a workpiece is clamped between the jaws.
