Abstract
928,641. Anchors. P. A. CHARLESWORTH. July 2, 1959 [July 3, 1958; Nov. 27, 1958], Nos. 14205/58 and 38250/58. Class 113. An anchor of the type having twin flukes C and a shank E which swings in a plane approximately at right angles to the plane of the flukes and midway between the latter, being pivoted at or near the ends of the flukes so that it can swing in the said plane at right angles to the flukes, its movements being restricted to a pre-determined angle between itself and the plane of flukes, has a combination of flukes and crown which is of Y shape in cross section, the two aft arms b<SP>1</SP> b<SP>2</SP> of the Y forming the stabilising fins and being part of the crown D and the leg of the Y having a central longitudinal groove c to form the flukes which groove extends into the two aft arms of the Y, the shank to which the anchor rope or chain is attached being pivotally mounted (on a pin g carried by two plates G) in the crown so that it can swing to both sides of the flukes through the space between them formed by the groove.
