Abstract

927,721. Electromagnetic switches. BROOKHIRST IGRANIC Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No.15541/60. Class 38 (5). In a switch having two movable armatures facing each other and mutually attracted on energization of a coil, the armatures are carried by linkages mounted on a supporting frame and each linkage comprises a pair of pivoted levers having their free ends interconnected by a link and the armatures are carried by the links which are arranged for substantially equal and opposite movement. As shown, the armatures 44, 46 have projections 50, 52 engaged in slots 40, 42 in the links 26, 28 at each side of the coil 62, each link 26, 28 being pivoted at its ends 30 to the ends of centrally pivoted (22) levers 20. Projections 34 on the links 26, 28 are urged apart by springs 38 and further projections 32 act as stops in the de-energized position. Brackets 54 attached to the armatures have slots engaging notches on plungers 12 of contact devices 10. The coil may be encased in epoxy resin and projections 64 thereon engage in openings 16 in a cover 14.
