Abstract

899,589. Electromagnetic switches. MASCHINENFABBIK OERLIKON. Sept. 2, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959], No. 30408/60. Class 38 (5). An electromagnetic contactor having a spring retained moving contact bridge has its fixed contacts secured bayonetwise in cross-members and springs disposed between the cross-members and the fixed contacts. The contactor has two portions, shown separated in Figs. 3 and 4, the lower portion comprising the magnet core 12, coil 11 and terminals 13 and the upper portion comprising compartment walls 1 connected by cross-members 2 and 9, a contact bar 3 and an armature 10 secured to the bar 3. The moving contact bridges 5 are located in apertures in the bar 3 and biased by spring 4 and the fixed contacts 7 are secured in the bar 9 by bayonet joints (not shown) are are axially biased by springs 8 to engage metal strips on the fixed portion in which the terminals 13 are screwed. Springs 14 snap over projections 15 on the outer walls 1 to retain the portions in their assembled positions with springs 17 biasing the bar 3 and armature 10 away from the core 12 and coil 11 which are retained within the contactor housing by spring clips 16.
