Abstract
925,700. Safety belts. B. E. V. STAPLES. Feb. 9, 1962 [Feb. 10, 1961; April 28, 1961; May 16, 1961], Nos. 5028/61, 15434/61 and 17806/61. Class 141. Safety harnesses are formed from two straps 1, 2 or 11, 12 joined by a quick-release buckle 3, 13 and may be arranged on a vehicle seat as shown in the Figures, the path of the straps being along 1a-1f, 2a-2f in Fig. 1, 1a, 1b, 1h 1e, 1d, 1c, 1g and 2a, 2b, 2h, 2e, 2d, 2c, 2g in Fig. 2 and 11a-11f and 12a-12f in Fig. 3. Spring clips 9, 18 which hold the straps frictionally may be used to fasten the straps to anchorages 4, 17. The ends 1f, 2f, 1g, 2g, 11f and 12f are looped by means of adjustable buckles 8, 10, 19 in order to adjust the size of the harness to the seat. The embodiment of Fig. 2 may be modified by looping one or both of the looped parts 1g 2g over the parts 2a, 1a, respectively, instead of to the anchorages 4 (Figs. 5, 6, not shown). The embodiment of Fig. 3 may be modified by using two anchorages 17 and two clips 18 to anchor separately the two straps. Adjustment of the waist straps to suit the passenger takes place at the quick release buckle which automatically adjusts the shoulder straps also.
