Means for packing eggs comprises two sections 1 and 2 hingedly connected so that one section can be folded over and vertically spaced from the other, each section being moulded to provide recesses for locating the contents and means for supporting the upper section upon the lower section so that portions of a major part of the contents are visible from one or more sides of the container. Outward flanges 4 extend completely round each section and the hinge 3, which is formed by indenting with two hinge lines 10, extends between the upper and lower flanges and is shaped to form bulges 11 which help to locate the contents. The lower section 2 has two rows of three cells 5 having outwardly sloping sides separated by hollow walls 6. Hollow posts 7 of tapering form with flat tops extend above the level of the top of section 2 and abut similar corresponding posts 9 of section 1 when the packaging means is closed. In a modification a single hinge having outwardly sloping walls, connected by a horizontal flange which is folded in half, is provided. In a further modification, hollow posts are provided for support along the edges of both sections. Similar pairs of sections may be joined end to end by bridging members to form a single container in such a way that they may be easily separated. The sections may be secured together by adhesive, stapling or by means of projections on the posts of one section which engage apertures in the hollow posts of the other section. Alternatively an encircling flexible band, a suitably shaped sleeve or a box with inspection holes may be used.
