A lorry which may be used to carry for example either bricks or a known quantity of sand, has cross members A, a platform floor B, side pillars 1 hinged at 13 to brackets 5 on a longitudinal channel member 4, and side boards C which are located by flanges 2 on the pillars and pins 3, and are hinged to lugs 24, 26 on the member 4. In the erected position the inside face of the pillar extension 11 engages with the face 14 of the member 4 and the pillar is held by locking pins 17. The side boards and the pillars may all be hinged downwardly to leave the sides of the lorry completely unobstructed.
