A device for use in an automatic threadcutting lathe or similar machine for removing the burr at the beginning and end of the thread, comprises a burr-removing tool mounted on a slide movable parallel to the work-axis which also carries the thread-cutting tool, the burr-removing tool being automatically displaced in a direction perpendicular to the workaxis in accordance with the longitudinal movement of the slide. The device may be applied to an automatic thread-cutting lathe of the type described in Specification 881,890, in which a cam-controlled slide 28, Fig. 7, carries a pivoted flap 6 on which the threadcutting tool 1 is mounted by means of a bracket 4. The latter is bored, above the tool 1 to take a pivot-pin 8, Fig. 3, on the end of which a tool-holding member 13 is adapted to swivel. The burr-removing tool 16 is secured in this member and is oscillated to make the cut at the beginning and end of the threaded part by a cam-strip 25, Fig. 1, secured to a longitudinallyadjustable bracket 27. A roller 21 supported in a member 19 adjustable in the tool-holding member 13, bears against the cam-strip to give the transverse movements to the tool 16.
