Abstract

923,523. Ammunition fuzes. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. June 10, 1960 [June 12, 1959], No. 20571/60. Class 9 (1). In electric fuzes for ammunition in which a condenser 4 for firing an igniter 10 is charged electrostatically by the escape of a powder as in Specification 751,579, the condenser 4 is placed in parallel with the discharge tube 6, a resistance 7 being placed in series with the discharge tube. With this arrangement the charge on the condenser never exceeds the ignition voltage of the tube 6 and the condenser ceases to discharge after its voltage falls to a value insufficient to maintain the tube. On impact a circuit is completed through the igniter 10 by contact between the fuze cap 3 and a percussion element 11, so that the condenser 4 discharges and fires the igniter. An additional condenser 12 may be placed in parallel with the resistance 7 or in parallel with the discharge tube 6. Specifications 923,521 and 923,522 also are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 751,579.
