Abstract

The free space within the cap of an electric incandescent lamp is filled with an insulating foam of a thermo-hardening synthetic substance, for example a thermo-hardened condensate of a resin of the phenolaldehyde type and a filler consisting mainly of magnesium carbonate or a substance containing a considerable amount of magnesium carbonate. Two examples of compositions containing novolac and hexamethylenetetramine with, respectively, magnesium carbonate and dolomite are given.
