Abstract

922,998. Converters. DEMAG A.G. Feb. 14, 1961 [Feb. 19, 1960], No. 5509/61. Class 72. The support frame of a converter, on which the converter vessel is supported at at least three positions and from which the vessel can be withdrawn, is open on one side as shown. The vessel 1, in which refining is carried out by an oxygen lance 2, may be provided with lugs 3 which engage between stops 7 provided on the support frame 4, held in position by trunnions 5 in bearings 6. The lugs may be secured by locking means such as hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders, or, as shown, by spindles or screws 9, each provided in upstanding structural parts 10, 11 of the support frame. For re-lining a vessel, the lugs are unclamped and the vessel lifted to merely above the stops 7 thus enabling lateral withdrawal, e.g. by means of a lift trolley 12 fitted with a jack 13.
