Abstract
921,089. Lamp-holders. D. BEDSON. Dec. 20, 1960 [March 10, 1960], No. 8426/60. Class 38 (1). A low-voltage inspection lamp has a bayonet - type bulbholder 2 with an extended spring-loaded contact 16, or two contacts, connected at 17 to one lead of the current supply flex such that on insertion of a motor vehicle twinfilament bulb, whichever filament is serviceable may be illuminated. One bayonet slot 4 is extended, as shown, so that a bulb with off-set pins 11 may be received. The other supply lead is connected at 20 to a blade 21 for contact with the metal cap 15 of the bulb 5 if the bulbholder 2 is of plastic or non-metallic material, while if holder 2 is metallic blade 21 is unnecessary and contact 16 would need an insulating mounting. Flange 9 of the bulb-holder snaps into an annular groove in the lamp body (Fig. 1, not shown). The Provisional Specification mentions that, alternatively to the spring- loaded contact 16 (or two contacts), a single off-set contact may be provided.
