Abstract
920,397. Silencers. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. June 16, 1961 [June 18, 1960], No. 21852/61. Class 7(2) [Also in Group XXXI] In a supercharged I.C. engine unit having an exhaust gas turbo blower and an exhaust gas silencer with inlet and outlet pipes disposed substantially radially to its axis, a short inlet pipe 15 projects into the silencer body 10 and is formed with openings 21, a perforated tubular body 25, closed at both ends, is disposed axially, and a short outlet pipe is led from the tubular body to atmosphere. Exhaust gas from the turbo-blower passes through inlet 15, openings 21, 18, perforations 26, 27, and to atmosphere through outlet 14. The free end 16, may be formed as a Venturi which co-operates with a radially spaced outlet pipe which is taken up to the roof through the outer skin and the inner lining of the end portion of an omnibus. In another embodiment, the outlet 14<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6 (not shown), is substantially perpendicular to the inlet branch 13.
