A rotary drum drier operated by countercurrent heating, characterized by an endlessbelt conveyer for charging the drum which projects into the lower part of the drum below the outlet opening for a counter-current heating gas. A rotary drying drum 1 having a helical worm revolvable therewith into which material is fed by an endless-belt conveyer 2 in countercurrent to a flow of heating gas which is exhausted through an outlet 4 above the conveyer. Deflecting baffles 3 are mounted in front of the outlet 4 and the conveyer is adapted to be pushed into the interior of the drum for storage.
