Abstract
919,221. Ladders. GRENFELL, N. W. June 13, 1961 [June 24, 1960], No. 22135/60. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A step-ladder hinge comprises two parallel plates 1 bolted on each side of one of the ladder stiles 5 and projecting rearwardly from the stile and having a hinge pin 8 mounted in them on which pivots a flap 9 bolted to a leg 13 of the back support. Such a hinge connects each stile to the opposed leg of the back support. The two plates may be the legs of U-shaped member the base of which engages the front of the stile, Fig. 7 (not shown). With ladders having back legs which cross each other the legs are pivoted to the flaps 9 and the legs are connected by a bolt in slots in the legs to allow variation of the crossing angle of the legs.
